2nd Teardrop Trailer

April 8th, 2008

We had to upgrade our trailer. The first one was a great trailer for two. The Teardrop was built based off a 4×8 sheet of plywood. We liked camping in it but we needed a bigger trailer with the new addition to the family.  I looked at plans and decided to build one based of a 4X10.  Here are some photos of the process of building the teardrop. This tear drop will work for us until either there are changes in our family or Miah grows to big for her bunk.

My First Teardrop Trailer.

April 8th, 2008

The first teardrop I ever had seen was at REI in Seattle. I looked at it carfully and said to myself I can build one of these. I looked on line and found some plans and started building this one. http://www.yesimadeit.com/myteardrop/index.htm  This was a great trailer. We towed it all over the north west and Canada. We spent 10 days on a great trip up to Jasper and Lake Louise Canada.

All the Aluminum is on!

January 21st, 2008

I have now got all the aluminum on the trailer. The doors are now covered and ready to have the door hardware placed on them. The back hatch needs to have the trim placed on it. This is one of the hardest parts of building the trailer. Takes hr to get it right. I hope to get it started tonight.  I’m still waiting to get the axle for the trailer. I have called the WSP to schedule a inspection.  I hope I can get in later part of Feb.  Just have the back hatch and the interior cabinet doors to put on and it is ready for the Axle and Wiring for the trailer lights..

Finishing the wood.

January 17th, 2008

Well I have two coats of finish on the trailer now. I will now install all the doors and windows and hardware. Still waiting on the axel.  I hope it gets here soon!

Wood trim and wood filler.

January 14th, 2008

In wood working there are always some holes that have to be filled. Nail holes and some screw holes. I have now filled them and I need to do a little sanding and then I will place some clear finish on the interior of the trailer. I hope all this gets don this week. Im ready to place it on the trailer once I get the wheels and axle.
